What is Ceramic Coating?
Ceramic coating is a high-temperature protective finish designed to withstand extreme heat—up to 2000°F—without fading, cracking, or flaking. Unlike traditional paints or coatings, ceramic coatings create a durable barrier that protects metal surfaces from heat, corrosion, and wear while maintaining their appearance over time.
Uses of Ceramic Coating
Ceramic coatings are most commonly applied to automotive exhaust components and engine parts to manage heat and improve performance. Typical applications include headers, turbo manifolds, turbo housings, downpipes, and complete exhaust systems. By keeping heat contained within these components, ceramic coatings help reduce engine bay temperatures, improve exhaust efficiency, and extend the life of high-performance parts.
Color Options
Ceramic coatings have more limited color options than powder coatings due to their high-temperature properties. At Enigma Coatings, we currently offer black, silver, gold, and grey finishes. Chrome or highly reflective finishes are not available, as the post-coating polishing process required for chrome is specialized and not commonly demanded. Despite the limited palette, these colors provide a sleek, durable, and professional finish suitable for high-performance automotive applications.
